ABSTRACT

A control system for a cold planer includes a speed sensor and a controller.
The speed sensor is operatively coupled with a conveyor belt of the cold
planer. The conveyor belt is configured to be driven by a motor. The
controller is communicably coupled with the speed sensor and the motor. The
controller configured to receive an indication of a speed of the motor and
receive, from the speed sensor, an indication of a speed of the conveyor belt.
The controller is further configured to determine, based on the received
indication of the speed of the motor and the received indication of the speed
of the conveyor belt, an amount of belt slippage of the conveyor belt. The
controller is further configured to calculate, based on the amount of belt
slippage of the conveyor belt, a mass flow rate of material on the conveyor
belt.
