ABSTRACT

An article storage system includes an article storage device and a central
controller for controlling the operation of the article storage device. The
plurality of article storage devices are arranged side by side such that boxes
can be transferred between adjacent article storage devices via the box
transport unit. A single box is sequentially transported from one article
storage device to another. The central controller acquires the status of the
article storage devices and, when an abnormality occurs in any article storage
device, continues the operation of article storage devices located upstream
and/or downstream of the article storage device where the abnormality has
occurred in the transport direction of the box.
