ABSTRACT

A lift device and a method of controlling the lift device are provided. The
lift device has a linkage assembly supported by a chassis, a work platform
supported by the linkage assembly, and a hydraulic system. The hydraulic
system has a lift cylinder to move the linkage assembly between a retracted
position and an extended position, and a damping cylinder to increase
stiffness of a pair of linkages positioned between the distal end of the lift
cylinder and the work platform. When the linkage assembly is being extended,
the lift cylinder receives pressure from the hydraulic system at a first
pressure and the damping cylinder receives fluid from the hydraulic system at
a second pressure, the second pressure lower than the first pressure.
