# Bearing retention sleeve

## Abstract

A bearing retention sleeve 2 for axially constraining a bearing 5 comprises a radially inner bore for receiving a shaft 4, a bearing abutment face 22, a circlip groove 21 extending radially outwardly from the bore, the circlip groove 21 having a bevelled circlip abutment face 23 on a side of the circlip groove 21 nearest to the bearing abutment face 22, bevelled in a direction away from a radially inner surface and away from the bearing abutment face 22. A circlip 3 has a bevelled axial face (or two bevels, 330, 350, fig 4) and gets thinner with increasing radius. Sleeve 2 may be an interference fit, have radial apertures (25’, 26’, figs 6,7) for a tool (TR, figs 6,7) to compress the circlip 3.
