Reuse and licensing

Unless otherwise identified, OpenTechnical publication content is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence.

Copying, redistribution, archiving, quotation, technical analysis and submission of publications to governmental, administrative, judicial or patent-related proceedings are permitted subject to the applicable licence terms.

Third-party material

Individual third-party material within a publication carries its own rights metadata in the publication manifest. Where a publication includes material under different terms, those terms govern that material.

Licensing and evidence are separate questions

A publication's status as a public disclosure does not depend on who owns the copyright in it. The licence governs what you may do with the text and the drawings. The fact and date of public disclosure are established by the publication record, the content hashes, the trusted timestamp and the independent retrieval evidence, none of which is affected by copyright ownership.

Bulk access

Metadata is available in bulk through the data downloads and the read-only API. Expensive API queries are rate limited; ordinary publication pages are not.
