Abstract

A tool (100, Figure 10) includes first 102 and second 104 halves pivotally coupled together at a pivot 122 and having first 106 and second 112 jaw portions with respective first 136 and second 138 front faces. The jaw portions include first (128, Figure 3) and second 130 contact surfaces disposed proximal to the two front faces, and first 124 and second 126 relief regions. First (132, Figure 2) and second 134 grooves are respectively disposed in the relief regions and are offset from each other by an offset distance 204. When the contact surfaces are brought together, they cooperatively define a contact plane (200, Figure 5) that extends along a longitudinal axis of the tool. A tool for removing, manipulating, and installing a hog ring (300, Figure 11) includes two pivotally coupled halves with two relief regions on respective jaw portions, and two grooves respectively disposed on the relief regions. The grooves are offset from each other. Two contact surfaces are respectively disposed on the two jaw portions, distal from the pivot. Each relief region may define an arcuate surface. Each of the grooves may be parallel to the longitudinal axis of tool and may include a chamfered portion. [Figure 1]
