Abstract

19 A tensioning spool is disclosed for tensioning a flexible rail that is used in a fence. The tensioning spool comprises a spool body that is configured to have the rail secured thereto. The spool body comprises a first end that is configured with a socket for a drive mechanism that rotates the spool body in use to tension the rail 5 when secured thereto. The first end is further configured with a formation that is connected to the socket and/or in which the socket is integrated. The formation is adapted to dissipate stress that is applied to the socket when the drive mechanism rotates the spool body in use to tension the rail. The formation is also adapted to reduce stress concentration at the socket to thereby reduce a tendency of the 10 socket to deform or buckle under load. 19
