Abstract

An automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) comprises a tracked system on which load handling devices move, and a transmitter to transmit commands. Each load handling device has a plurality of sub-systems controlled by a controller, a power source, a receiver circuitry. The controller has the ability to disable and enable power for a low-power / sleep / wake / power or energy saving mode, and enable power for periodic controller activation, depending on commands received by the receiver circuitry and sub-systems. An associated method, data processing system and computer program are also disclosed.
